Description

The mini medieval re-enactment wars in MyRace Towers have been pretty one sided so far – if you didn’t bagsy the Viking Invader shield first, you were doomed. Until now… We are very excited to launch the latest in our Invader Series – The Norman Invader!

Normans were actually Vikings who settled in Northern France (Norman = Norseman) and who later gave their name to that region (Normandy). Not content with living in a lovely region of France, they decided to come over to England and have a dust up with Harold, led by William II of Normandy (William the Conqueror). As any school kid will tell you, that didn’t end well for Harold, who took an arrow in the eye (see the back of the ribbon…), gaining himself infamy in British history. So people carrying shields just like these have shaped British history considerably – if you’re called William, Robert or Richard, you have the Normans to thank for introducing these names to these shores…

But enough of the history lesson. If you like this bling and want to get one round your neck, run or walk 5km. £5 from every entry goes to Pseudomyxoma Survivor.

Did this at the start of lockdown, so expected a long delay in delivery. I was wrong!
Came in a couple of days and stunned by the quality of the medal and the detail on the ribbon! Can’t recommend it enough.
