Description
With our Remembrance Day event we are remembering those members of the armed forces who have lost their lives whist serving their country. The first Remembrance Day took place in 1919 when King George V marked the one year anniversary of the end of World War I – this tradition and the wearing of a red poppy has become a key date in both the military and civilian calendars ever since.
The image in this medal takes inspiration from the many World War II Allied cemeteries across Normandy and we have also included the famous paragraph from Robert Laurence Binyon’s World War I poem “For the Fallen”.
We are proudly supporting ‘Blesma The Limbless Veterans’ with this 10k event. Blesma is dedicated to assisting serving and ex-Service men and women who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the use of a limb, an eye or loss of sight. Blesma does not receive any government funding and rely solely on the public, therefore your help is both vital and greatly appreciated.
